• Drowning is the #1 killer of infants and children in 18 states and ranks 2^nd nationally (only behind automobile accidents) in terms of yearly deaths. 
• A swimming pool is 14 times more likely than an automobile to be involved in the death of a child under the age of 4.
• Of all pre-schoolers who drown, 70% of them are in the care of one or both parents at the time of drowning and 75% of those are missing from sight for 5 minutes or less.
