Leslie Britnell, Certified ISR Instructor
Before starting my ISR career in early 2008, I worked for 8 years at a local hospital in the Fitness/Wellness industry and am still active in many community activities. Currently, I am the Office Manager for Kale DeMent Physical Therapy, a safe sitter instructor, Certified Mom and Me Exercise Instructor. I am also CPR and First Aid certified. I have an Associates Degree in Sports Medicine and a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Business Administration.
I have been blessed with a wonderful husband and two great children (Garrett 7 and Chaney Grace 8). I became an ISR instructor because of those two that call me mom. My daughter, at the time, had taken a mom and me class. It was evident that she would not know what to do if she were to fall in the water, even after taking lessons. As we searched for something more, my husband ran across the Miles video and I had to find out more about the ISR program. I saw ISR as a perfect opportunity to give my own children life-saving water survival tools as well as an outlet to help other children in the North Alabama region.
My goal as an ISR instructor is to "reach each child before he/she reaches the water". I want my swimmers to have a lifelong love for the water, but also a lifelong respect for the water!
I thank God everyday for bringing all of these other little babies into my life, those that call me Mrs. Leslie.
I live in Priceville, AL just outside of Decatur.
Missy Grant, Certified ISR Instructor
I have a great love for working with people young or old. For many years I have been involved with a clown ministry and clowning for parties. I have also been a sitter at group homes for adults with special needs. Because of this love of people I decided to become an Infant Swimming Resource instructor. I started my classes in 2010 and became a Certified ISR Instructor in 2011. I was fortunate enough to have a very good friend that taught these classes and saw firsthand what a great opportunity it was to give children life-saving water survival tools. Many people think it is simply swimming lessons. I taught swimming lessons for years and it is far more than that. It is truly survival skills for the water.
Infant Swimming Resource is an extremely effective drowning prevention program and I am proud to be part of a team of individuals whose mission is “not one more child drowns ” to keep babies and children safe in and around the water by teaching them to be aquatic problem-solvers. I look forward to working with each of your little ones and teaching them a love for the water as well as very necessary swimming and survival skills!
My prayer is that every child be safe around the water and if I can help keep them safe then I have accomplished another goal in life. I truly feel Infant Swimming Resource is the safest, most comprehensive and effective self-rescueTM swimming program of its kind in the United States for children age 6 months to 6 years.
